Astral is a project I have been working on since December 2016. The idea for this project was to create a game that the player would have to use sound to navigate and explore an environment whilst avoiding enemies present in the game world and the decision to make the game a horror game came from a love of the horror genre I have.

 

Since the beginning of this project I have researched the Unreal Engine in which the game is built in to gain an understanding of how the engine works so that I could use it to create the game and implement the sound design I had in mind. 

 

Over the course of work on this project I have planned each aspect of the game by researching level design, game mechanics and enemy A.I's so that I could design my own and implement them into the game world. 

I have also designed the sound for the game to compliment the atmosphere I am trying to create by recording and editing the sounds myself and then implementing them into the game engine.

Astral Game

Astral is a top down perspective horror game that puts the player in a completely dark world and lets them use sound to light their way as they explore the environment and discover its story.

Use sound to light your way by clapping and using the radiator steam. Watch out though because the spirit that's chasing you can hear you. 

This game contains themes and content that is not suitable for a young audience
